I am a Physical Anthropologist with biocultural anthropological, political ecological, & political economy perspectives. I believe in holism in research & support the idea that you cannot separate the biological from the social. I generally participate in interdisciplinary research/academia & my interests lie in bridging a variety of specialties to study the various facets of oppression of the people of African descent in the US & how systems of oppression (such as racism, classism, & sexism) influence their health & thus their osteological remains. Thus, I am interested in studying the biological consequences of systems of oppression in relation to the peoples of African descent. As a sociologist I am interested in Urban sociology, Race & Racism, as well as Sociology of Sport.
I also work in my community to try to help educate inner city high school students on higher education & changing students’ interactions with & perceptions of education. I have tutored high school students as well as student athletes.
Is there a way to contact Ms. Shenita Ann McLean regarding an interview?
